Stock Allocation/Reservation

Stock Allocation/Reservation

Postby heb » Wed Aug 20, 2008 10:38 am

We are looking to hold (buffer) stock in our main warehouse for future allocation against certain "types" of orders/customers.

I am aware of using Stock Status Codes to "hold" stock but if I release this stock I am concerned that it could be allocated by the Released Stopped Orders program and important orders miss out!

We don't want to move stock to other warehouses as it causes issues with our recently implementation of bundles.

I suppose the question is......

Is there a way of prioritising allocation by Customer (or even order) which may help.

(We are using standard SOP not Telesales)

Thanks

I believe this is not possible.
I had a look at doing this a few years ago and ended up having to do a bespoke.

It would be interesting to know if there is a standard solution.

This has been in the product for years (at least 10) and has been available for Sage direct customers historically. At some point in the 500 roadmap I would imagine this will get updated/tested with current functionality and released. I hope so cos it is good functionality and I shall ask at Sage if they have considered releasing it. The other option is that we have had this developed for another customer and it has been done with vection technology (approved development partner). It comes in the form of an 'Enhanced Allocation/Release' program. If you speak to Julian at Vection he can help you out. http://www.vectiontechnology.com/index.htm

Hi Steve

- would appreciate it if you could expand a little on your comments about it being "in the product for years" and available for Sage direct customers - I'm now wondering What is avaialble?

Thanks
